Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate the outcomes of posterior chamber phakic Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) implantationin for low-to-moderate myopic patients.
Setting:
Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, PRC.
Methods:
This study included 48 eyes of 27 myopic patients treated with ICL implantation. Inclusion criteria were age between 21 and 45 years, spherical equivalent (SE) between -0.50 D and -6.00 D, and cylinder up to -1.50 D. Data on visual acuity, refraction, and complications were collected at 1 day, 1 week, and 1, 3, 6 and 12 months postoperatively.
Results:
At 12 months postoperatively, the mean SE was -0.03±0.05 D, 91.67 % and 100.00 % were within ±0.50 D and ±1.00 D of the targeted correction respectively. Manifest refraction change of -0.07±0.06D occurred from 1 month to 1 year. Compared with the preoperative corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), 38 eyes (79.17%) had better postoperative uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) and 9 eyes (18.75%) had UDVA equivalent to the preoperative CDVA. One eyes lost 1 line, and no eyes lost >1 line of CDVA. No vision-threatening complications occurred at any time.
Conclusions:
ICL implantation for low-to-moderate myopia is safe, accurate, and effective.
