Abstract Details
Purpose:
To compare the results in uncorrected visual acuity after one year follow up of patients who underwent LASIK surgery or ICL implantation
Possibility of amblyopia treatment
Setting:
Sistina Ophthalmology and Klinika Svjetlost
Methods:
We operated 60 eye with LASIK, 8 eyes amblyopic and 21 eyes with ICL implantation,
4 eyes amblyopic (in range of 0.1-0.8)
Follow up: 1st month,3rd month, 6th month, 1st year
INCLUSION CRITERIA
Unchanged refraction for at least one year
AC depth > 3,0 mm
Endotelial cell count > 2200 cells/mm²
Scotopic pupil <7.5mm
Anterior chamber angle > grade II
No intraocular disease
(diabetes without retinopathy and well controled glaucoma are relative contraindications, any history of uveitis is absolute contraindication)
Results:
Both LASIK and ICL implantation showed significant improvement of UCVA compared with preoperative BCVA.
We conclude significant improvement in UCBA at patients who underwent ICL implantation .
Conclusions:
ICL implantation showed more predictible and more stabile postoperative refraction in the follow up period of 1 year. ICL should be considerate in treatment of adult ambliopic patients with amblyopia ( full refractive correction and myopic defocusing)
