Abstract Details

Purpose:

To evaluate the visual outcomes and complications after implantation of V4c ICL(with centraflow) and V4 for correction of high myopic astigmatism.

Setting:

Eye research centre, Rassoul Akram Hospital, Iran University of Medical Sciences and Iranian Eye Clinic, Tehran, IRAN.

Methods:

: V4c and V4 ICL implantation done for correction of high myopic astigmatism with at least 1 year follow up. The outcome measures that were evaluated included pre and postoperative UDVA, CDVA, endothelial cell count (ECC) lens opacification, IOP and lens rotation.

Results:

46 eyes underwent V4c ICL implantation and 40 eyes had implantation of V4 ICL with PI. Mean preoperative SE was -8.65 and -8.51D in the V4c and V4 groups which reduced to postoperative values of 16 and 33 D respectively. Mean preoperative cylinder was -1.38 and -1.65 D that respectively reduced to 51 and -0.46 D. At 1 year, mean ECC loss was 2.4% and 3.1%. 1eye of V4c and 3 eyes of V4 groups required rerotation surgery. Safety and efficacy indices were same and Lens was clear in both groups.

Conclusions:

Both V4c and V4 Visian ICL implantations are comparable in terms of visual outcome and safety profile for correction of high myopic astigmatism.
