Abstract Details
Purpose:
To show a new modification of plastic surgery of the iris used in repair of congenital coloboma of the iris.
Setting:
Silesian Eye Treatment Centre
Methods:
5 patients (5 eyes) have been operated on because of the presence of partial, congenital coloboma of the iris. The aim of above surgery was to close congenital loss of the iris, but with no change in the position of the pupil after surgery.
Results:
Preoperative, partial loss of the iris which was a consequence of the presence of congenital coloboma, due to Cywinski’s modification of iris repair has been achieved in all cases. The position of the pupil haven’t been changed after applying of this manouver.
Conclusions:
A repair of congenital, partial loss of the iris with using of Cywinski modification of iris surgery gives a predictable results of closing of the coloboma without the change in the pupil position.
