Hafez Al-Faleh, MD  Department of Ophthalmology, Research Center, Prince Sultan Military Medical City, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Methods:

A case of 74 years old saudi male who had a history of redness for long period . Clinical examination showed extensive diffuse conjunctival tumour superiorly . Incisional biopsy revealed the diagnosis of extensive Conjunctival intraepithelial neoplasia .We started the patient on topical MMC 0.04% administered four times a day for 2 weeks cycles , with one week off between cycles . Total regression of the tumour achieved after 6 weeks from the start of the course .

Results:

After 11 months from the beginning of topical MMC we noticed two small lesions measuring less than 2 mm in size located in the supero-nasal part of the conjunctiva left eye , taking fluorescein stain . We started the patient on 5 Fluorouracil 1% eye drops qid for 3 weeks which results in complete regression of the lesions .

Conclusions:

MMC 0.04% appears to be safe and effective in management of conjunctival intraepithelial neoplasia. This case highlights the importance of the follow up in these patients to find out and treat any recuurrent lesion .
