Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Wavelight Allegretto EX-500 and Schwind Amaris 1050RS in the treatment of astigmatism of 1.5 diopter (D) or more.
Setting:
Alexandria University - ICare Hospital
Alexandria
EGYPT
Methods:
Retrospective study. Eyes with astigmatism of 1.5D or more were treated either Wavelight Allegretto EX-500 (131 eyes) or Schwind Amaris 1050RS (86 eyes). Postoperative uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) and cylinder amount were compared between the groups.
Results:
Both Allegretto and Amaris postoperative uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) improved in comparison to preoperative corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), 1.0±0.18 and 0.91±0.03, respectively. Average cylinder decreased from −2.33D to −0.26D (p<0.001) in Allegretto, and from −2.35D to −0.22D in Amaris (p<0.001).
Conclusions:
Both Wavelight Allegretto EX-500 and Schwind Amaris 1050RS lasers are effective in the treatment of astigmatism of 1.5 diopter or more.
