Abstract Details

Purpose:

To determine the safety, efficacy, refractive outcomes and predictability of single step transepithelial photorefractive keratectomy with SST using an aberration neutral profile centered at the corneal vertex with asymmetric offset in Myopia/Astigmatism.

Setting:

EyeLaser Center Vienna

Methods:

This retrospective study included 25 eyes of patients with a mean age of 36,6 years with Myopia/Astigmatism who underwent TransPRK SST performed by one surgeon with the AMARIS 1050RS (SCHWIND eye-tech-solutions, Kleinostheim, Germany) using smart surface technology and an aberration neutral profile centered at the corneal vertex with asymmetric offset, optical zones between 6.5 to 7,5 mm. Follow-up was performed pre-operative and post-operative evaluation at 1y including; UDVA, CDVA, refraction, keratometry and Scheimpflug imaging (Sirius, CSO Inc.).

Results:

25 eyes were included, Mean preoperative spherical equivalent (SE) -3.11D, Mean postoperative SE was +0.01D, with 100% of the eyes within 0.5D of the target. Significantly improvement (p<0.05) on Sphere, Cylinder, SE, UDVA and CDVA. CDVA improved in 84% of eyes. 0% of eyes lost 1 or more lines of CDVA.

Conclusions:

Single step TransPRK with Smart Surface Technology for Myopia / Astigmatism using an aberration neutral profile yielded excellent visual outcomes.
