Abstract Details
Purpose:
To describe and analyze if wavefront guided treatments are effective to improve vision acuity and high order aberrations in patients with irregular astigmatism after lasik surgery
Setting:
All the patients were operated in ClĂnica Baviera, Sevilla , Spain.
Methods:
Five patients were operated between 2016 and 2017. They were four female and one male. The range of age was between 29 to 53 years old. All of them, received a miopic lasik treatment for refractive surgery. Two different microkeratomes were used Moria One and Moria. Any flap complications was described. No complications during the ablation were detected. Three eyes decrease their corrected visual acuity. After first surgery and all five presented an increase of the RMS of hight order aberrations. All of them were retreated by a wavefront guided laser treatment to try to improve the visual acuity.
Results:
The mean corrected visual acuity preoperatory was 0,95 .The mean HOA RMS at 6 mm preoperatory was 0,34. Horizontal coma, spherical aberration and trefoil were the most important aberrations in eyes with low visual acuity after myopic lasik surgery. After wavefront treatment two eyes improve their visual acuity more than 20 % and all the eyes decreased the HOA RMS
Conclusions:
wavefront guided treatments are usefull to treat unsuccessfull results after myopic lasik surgery in eyes with high order aberrations that produce low visual acuity or quality of vision.
