Abstract Details

Purpose:

The objective of this study was to evaluate a new SS-OCT Cataract and Refractive Imaging Platform and to compare its measurability and agreement with two other established devices

Setting:

Vienna Institute for Ocular Surgery (VIROS), a Karl-Landsteiner Institute, Hanusch Hospital, Vienna, Austria

Methods:

53 Eyes were divided into six groups: Normal Eyes, Corneal Irregularities, Dense Cataract, Pseudophakia, Macular Pathologies and Long Eyes. Each patient underwent ophthalmological assessment and was examined with the new Cataract and Refractive Imaging Platform (Heidelberg Engineering GmbH, Germany), IOL Master 700 (Carl Zeiss Meditec AG, Germany) and Sirius (Bon Optic GmbH, Germany) in a randomised order in one visit. Analyzed metrics included anterior and posterior corneal topography, corneal pachymetry, anterior chamber depth, lens thickness, axial length, pupil diameter and corneal diameter.

Results:

The new Cataract and Refractive Imaging Platform was able to acquire data in healthy and pathological eyes while showing anatomic detail at high resolution. For all measured parameters good agreement was observed between the three devices.

Conclusions:

The new high resolution SS-OCT Cataract and Refractive Imaging Platform provides better visualization of the anterior segment, and its corneal and biometrical measurements are comparable with those of two established devices.
