Abstract Details
Purpose:
Comparison of visual outcomes and Ocular Surface Discomfort in patients undergoing Femto Laser assisted Arcuate incisions along with Cataract Procedure with that of Toric IOLs . It tries to address the large lacunae existing in identifying a proper nomogram for Femto Laser Assisted Arcuate Incisions and the post operative ocular symptoms.
Setting:
ICARE Eye Hospital & Post graduate Institute
Sector 26, NOIDA 201301 - Delhi NCR - Uttar Pradesh INDIA
Methods:
The paper is a Retrospective study of 15 patients who underwent Femto laser Assisted Cataract Surgery (FLACS) with Arcuate Incisions to correct Astigmatism ( between 0.75 and 2.0 DC corneal astigmatism) compared to 15 patients who were subjected to Femto Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery with a Toric IOL implant without any Arcuate Incisions. A special questionnaire was designed for the patients of both groups which was filled one month post operatively to assess the ocular symptoms. Nomogram was also formalised after this study based on the astigmatic correction by the Laser Arcuate Incisions
Results:
Correction of Astigmatism is better achieved by the use of Femto Laser assisted Cataract surgery with implant of Toric IOL as compared to those patients undergoing Femto Laser assisted Cataract Surgery with a regular monofocal IOLs with Laser Arcuate Incisions. There was no difference in the post operative ocular symptoms in both groups of patients
Conclusions:
Correction of Astigmatism is better achieved by the use of Femto Laser assisted Cataract surgery with implant of Toric IOL as compared to those patients undergoing Femto Laser assisted Cataract Surgery with a regular monofocal IOLs with Laser Arcuate Incisions
