Abstract Details
Purpose:
To research the results of keratoconus management with femtosecond laser assisted intracorneal ring implantation
Setting:
Private Gözakademi Hospital,Denizli,Turkey
Methods:
49 eyes from 39 patients with keratoconus clinically and topoghraphically diagnosed were included.Preoperation and postoperation refraction, uncorrected visual acuity(UCVA),best corrected visual acuity(BCVA) ,spheric equivalant(SE) and topoghraphic results were evaluated.
Results:
The mean age of 49 patients was 27,75± 6,17 years.There were no complication during and after surgery.BCVA(logMar) improved from 0,61± 0,31 preoperatively to 0,21± 0,4 4 months postoperatively(p=0,006) Mean Kmax reduced from 58,09± 5,23 preoperatively to 54,70± 4,29 4 months postoperatively (p=0,002) SE reduced from -10,35± 6,07 preoperatively to -2,53± 1,30 4 months postoperatively (p=0,001)
Conclusions:
Femtosecond laser assisted intracorneal ring segment implantation for keraconus management is an effective treatment. We will need more patients and long term follow up results to evaluate long term outcomes.
