Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate impact of blepharospasm on corneal curvature before and after aplication Incobotulinum toxin-A (Xeomin) and Botulinum toxin-A (Botox).
Setting:
University Department of Ophthalmology University Hospital Center Sestre milosrdnice, Vinogradska 29, Zagreb, Croatia
Methods:
Patients with unilateral and bilateral blepharospas were evaluated. Corneal curvature and astigmatism were obtained with Scheimpflug (Pentacam) system and Auto keratometer before and after 2 weeks and 2, 3 and 4 months.
Results:
The study evaluated 12 patients, 7 with unilateral and 5 with bilateral blepharospasm, 3 males and 9 females. Six patients were treated with Incobotulinum toxin-A (Xeomin) and six patients with Botulinum toxin-A (Botox). A significant decrease in steep K and astigmatism were observed 2 and 3 months after treatment.
Conclusions:
After tretment of blepharospasm with „Botox“ and „Xeomin“ results revealed a temporary reduction in corneal curvature.
