Abstract Details

Purpose:

To investigate the clinical outcome of intra-scleral fixation with Three-piece multifocal intraocular lens (IOL) by arranged flanged technique.

Setting:

Tsukazaki Hospital, Himeji, Japan.

Methods:

The case was a patient who was previously implanted with ZMA00 at the time of cataract surgery. Since ZMA00 was dislocated because of ciliary zonule defect , and visual acuity become worse. The same ZMA00 was re-implanted by modified flange intrascleral fixation method. We performed visual acuity test at 5 m, 1 m, 70 cm, 50 cm, 40 cm, 30 cm, measured contrast sensitivity (GCT - 1000), and measured size and intensity of halo and glare using Halo & Glare simulator at 3 month after the cataract operation.

Results:

Hello was strongly recognized before surgery in simulation image, but after surgery, it disappeared after the operation. Even in Multiple image simulator, the symptoms of monocular diplopia which had been conscious before surgery also disappeared. From distant to near vision, visual acuity at 5 m, 1 m, 70 cm, 50 cm, 40 cm, 30 cm were 1.2, 1.0, 0.9, 0.6 , 0.7, 0.9 in decimal with good results.

Conclusions:

It was suggested that modified flange intrascleral fixation with ZMA00 can be done safely and effectively.
