Abstract Details
Purpose:
To examine results of the AT LISA 839 MP trifocal intraocular lens (IOL) implantation in patients with high myopia.
Setting:
Princess of Wales Hospital Bridgend, UK
Methods:
High myopia was defined as axial length of more than 26 mm. Long-term data was collected on demographics, eye dimensions, pre- and post-operative refraction, vision and need for spectacles for all patients implanted with AT LISA 839MP trifocal IOL.
Results:
Twenty -eight eyes of sixteen patients were included; with mean axial length of 27.6 mm and pre-operative SEQ of - 8.5 +/- 3.3 D. Mean monocular UDVA, UIVA and UNVA were -0.03, 0.12 and 0.1 LogMAR respectively. Mean binocular UDVA, UIVA and UNVA were -0.1, 0.05 and 0.05 LogMAR respectively. All patients reported spectacle independence for distance and intermediate vision. Six (37.5 %) patients used glasses some of the time for reading. Two (12.5 %) patients complained of mild to moderate degree of haloes. Mean follow up was 71 months and 6 (21.5 %) eyes required YAG capsulotomy.
Conclusions:
Implantation of AT LISA trifocal IOL can achieve excellent unaided distance, intermediate and near vision in high myopes.
