Abstract Details

Purpose:

The study evaluated the shape of capsulotomy performed by CapsuLaser device for cataract or refractive lens exchange surgery 18 months after surgery.

Setting:

Gemini Eye Clinic, Czech Republic

Methods:

20 eyes of 20 patients were enrolled. UDVA, CDVA, refraction and capsulotomy diameter and picture were evaluated 18 months after surgery and compared with 1 week and 1 month’s data. Two independent reviewers evaluated capsulotomy shape and dimensions from pictures.

Results:

All capsulotomies were covering optic edge around 360° circumference. Minor fibrotic changes and changes in shape and diameter are presented both numerically and in pictures. Mean UDVA, CDVA and refraction did not significantly differ from 1 month’s data.

Conclusions:

The results of 20 patient study demonstrate that capsulotomies created by CapsuLaser are stable in 18 months follow up and reliably cover 360° around IOL optic edge.
