Abstract Details

Purpose:

To compare the effectiveness and stability of the result of the ReLEx SMILE and Lasik methods in myopia

Setting:

MNTK MICROSURGERY OF EYE SAINT PETERSBURG BRANCH

Methods:

patients men and women aged 19 to 39 years with myopia up to 10 diopters and a cylinder up to 5 diopters (-5,46 D SE) are divided into 2 groups: group 1-1542 eyes after lasik, group 2-1247 eyes - ReLEx SMILE. The following parameters were evaluated preoperatively,to next operating day and 1 month, 6 month and 1 year post operative: uncorrected vision acuity (UCVA), coefficient efficacy(CE) after operation.

Results:

UCVA the next day, after 1, 6 and 12 months in both group were comparable. In group 2, it was 0.96 ± 0.15 (CE 0.96 ± 15.3), 1.03 ± 0.15 (CE 104.55 ± 15.7), 1.02 ± 0.16 (CE 103.4 ± 15.2), 1.05 ± 0.15 (CE 103.4 ± 15.2). In group 1, it was 1.01 ± 0.15 (CE 102.8 ± 13.54), 1.01 ± 0.15 (CE 101.3 ± 13.54), 1.03 ± 0.16 (CE 102.4 ± 15.2), 1.02 ± 0.15 (CE 101.4 ± 15.3). There were no significant differences between the two groups (P> 0.05)

Conclusions:

ReLEx Smile and Lasik both are effective in correcting myopia and myopic astigmatism. their results are comparable and stable for a long time. for longer-term data, further observation is necessary.
