Abstract Details

Purpose:

To report a case series of 84 eyes implanted with implantable collamer lenses (ICL) and the management of post operative complications up to 10 years of follow up

Setting:

Private practice setting, Sightline Ophthalmic Associate, Pittsburgh, PA

Methods:

After proper preoperative evaluation ICL was implanted in 84 eyes of 45 patients. Preoperative YAG peripheral iridotomies (PI) at one or two sites in each eye were performed. Sizing of ICL was based on white to white measurements of IOL master and Galileo tomography. The follow-up period was up to 10 years. Post-op evaluation included Visual acuity, IOP, anterior chamber depth and measurement of vault distance by Anterior Segment Optical Coherence Tomography (AS-OCT).

Results:

Excellent patient satisfaction for improved visual acuity was found in most patients. Two eyes needed explantation due to incorrect sizing and 4 eyes developed cataracts during 10 years of follow up who underwent uneventful cataract surgery.

Conclusions:

Overall ICL implantation has a satisfactory visual outcome. Use of IOL master and Galileo tomography for ICL sizing has reasonable outcome.
