Abstract Details
Purpose:
To estimate results of iridium lens diaphragm (ILD) at patients with post traumatic aniridia and aphacia.
Setting:
JSC
KAZAKH RESEARCH
INSTITUTE OF EYE DESEASES
Methods:
7 patients were under observation: 4 men and 3 women at age of 41±5,7 years. In anamnesis there was a primary surgical debridemen (PSD) because of penetrating corneoscleral trauma of the eye bulb in term up to 3 years. BCVA before the surgery was 0,01±0,01. At 4 eyes there was a hemophthalm and in 2 cases it was with retinal separation. All the patients had been implanted IHD (ИХД) complex “artificial iris + IOL) with transscleral fixation into ciliary culcus with forming a corneoscleral tunnel with length 4,5 mm, with vitrectomy in 4 cases.
Results:
Operation itself and postoperative period was without any complications. BCVA after surgery is 0,2±0,07. IOP (intraocular pressure) is compensated. IHD (ИХД) is in correct position. Retina of 2 patients after tamponade of the vitreal cavity with silicon is attached.
Conclusions:
1. Decision of the question about necessity and terms of the surgical interference, as well as application of this or that type of “artificial iris + IOL” complex, probable prognosis of the post operation period and state of the disease require thorough anamnesis gathering, clinical and instrumental examination and individual approach.
2. Reconstructive surgery together with IHD implantation and vitreal interference is necessary in cases when there is hemophthalm and retinal separation.
