Abstract Details

Purpose:

To study the effect of one eye correction on patient satisfaction

Setting:

S.N. Fyodorov Eye Microsurgery Institution, Moscow, Russia

Methods:

Patients (n=63, eyes = 63) with age-related cataract, corneal astigmatism and amblyopia had enVista Toric (Baush&Lomb, USA) implantation. SE of implanted IOL was calculated using MICOF / ALF formula, a toric component was calculated on an enVista toric online calculator. All patients examined visual acuity, IOP, ultrasound and optic biometry, corneal topography. The average age of patients was 68.2 years. Axial lengths ranged from 21,5 to 30,6 mm, an average was 23.7mm and astigmatism from 1.5 D to 4.5 D, an average 1,7 D. To estimate patients complacency we used questionnaire.

Results:

At first days after surgery average UCVA was 0,6 (decimal). BCVA was average 0,7 (decimal). The mean residual refractive cylinder was 0.6 D. Rotation of IOL at first days was within 3° degrees. Acording to questionnaire results, patients were satisfied by the quality of vision. Some patients (n=6) returned binocular vision after 3 months

Conclusions:

Monolateral implantation of Envista Toric IOL revealed very good performance regarding predictability, efficacy, safety and IOL stability.
