Abstract Details

Purpose:

To create a comprehensive system of dispensary registration and patient management on the basis of a mobile clinic National Center for Ophthalmology named after academician Zarifa Aliyeva in various regions of the Azerbaijan Republic.

Setting:

National Ophthalmology Center named after acad. Z.Aliyeva, Azerbaijan.

Methods:

A retrospective analysis was conducted in the regions and institutions of Azerbaijan for 12 years. Determined frequency of the trips and the number of visits to the region and institutions, as well as the total number of ophthalmologic examinations and ophthalmic interventions carried out in the field. Of the total (8349) number of people examined, 62.1% (5185) were women. The age of patients ranged from 4 to 82 years, with the age group ≥ 50 years old being 6011 patients (72%). All patients underwent standard complex ophthalmic examination: visometry, tonometry (tomography), biomicroscopy, ophthalmoscopy, refractometry, ultrasound examination according to indications.

Results:

In the structure of morbidity by nosological forms, the leading place was taken by cataracts - 2028 patients (25.9%), vitreoretinal pathology - 1823 patients (23.3%), glaucoma - 1447 patients (18.5%) and infectious diseases - 1262 patients 16.1%). Of the total number of surgical interventions, 83.3% (500) had to extract cataracts; 8.2% (49) - on the removal operation of pterygium; 7% (42) - on the antiglaucomatous operation. One of the main functions of the mobile clinic clinical work is early detection and recording of glaucoma and diabetic patients.

Conclusions:

It was first studied technique efficient and economical use of available ophthalmic Azerbaijan Republic health care resources.Analysis of patients with various diseases was performed according to data of mobile ophthalmological clinic of the National Ophthalmology Center with age-sex composition.The characteristics of performed surgical interventions in various regions of Azerbaijan were given.It was developed and implemented advanced forms and methods of organization of specialized eye care in different regions of Azerbaijan.For the first time against background of effective economic use of available ophthalmic resources were developed advanced forms and methods of organization of specialized eye care in different regions of Azerbaijan.
