Purpose:

Retrospective evaluation of refractive and visual outcomes following implantation of a Toric Trifocal Diffractive Lens Implant following cataract surgery or refractive lens exchange

Setting:

Centre for Sight, Hazelden Place, East Grinstead, UK - Private ambulatory Surgical Centre

Methods:

Retrospective analysis of 264 consecutive eyes implanted with the AT Lisa Trifocal Toric lens implant (Zeiss, Jena, Germany) at cataract or refractive lens exchange using a femtosecond laser (Victus laser, Bausch and Lomb-Technolas, Munich Germany) and microincisional (1.8mm) surgery. Visual data (UDVA, CDVA, UNVA and Uncorrected intermediate vision at 60 and 80cm) and refractive outcomes and contrast sensitivity testing were analysed as well as complications and adverse events

Results:

70% of lenses ±5º of intended axis,19% 5-10º, and 11% ≥11º. 7 lenses required rotation and no lenses explanted. Mean preop cylinder was1.95 ±1.13. At 1 month SE was -0.21 ±0.45 D, mean astigmatism -0.39D ±0.43D. Monocular UDVA ≥20/25 in 83% and 20/20 57%. Monocular UNVA at 40cm was ≥20/30 in 87%, 64% ≥20/25 and 25%. 20/20. Binocular UDVA was ≥20/25 in 93%. Binocular UIVA at 80cm was 94% had ≥20/30 and 50% ≥20/20. No significant loss of contrast, All patients reported to be free of spectacles and able to drive at night without significant symptoms of halos or glare.

The AT Lisa Diffractive Trifocal Toric lens implant provides excellent refractive outcomes with highly predictable and reliable reduction in cylinder as well as good visual outcomes at distance, intermediate and near
