Abstract Details

Purpose:

Comparison Of Short-Term Outcomes Of Phaco trabeculectomy With Collagen matrix Implant (CMI) Versus Phaco trabeculectomy With Mitomycin C (MMC) In Primary Glaucomas.

Setting:

ICARE Eye Hospital & Post Graduate Institute Sector 26, NOIDA 201301 - Delhi NCR - Uttar Pradesh INDIA

Methods:

26 eyes were included in a prospective, non-randomized, comparative study. 13 eyes underwent phaco-trabeculectomy with Collagen matrix implant and 13 eyes ,underwent phaco-trabeculectomy with MMC. The primary outcome measure was postoperative IOP at 1 month and 3 months. Secondary outcome measures were additional medications, postoperative interventions and complications.

Results:

The mean preoperative IOP in the CMI group was 20.15mmHg with medication and 18.62mmHg in MMC group.. The CMI group showed a mean post op IOP of 12.46 mm Hg at 1 week, 13.54 mm Hg at 1 month and 13.54 at 3 months . At 3 months none of the eyes required any anti glaucoma medications. The MMC group showed a mean post op IOP of 16.15 mm Hg at 1 week, 15.85 mmHg at 1 month and 14.77 mm Hg at 3 months.

Conclusions:

At 3 months IOP lowering in both groups were similar. However, the eyes in MMC group required additional anti glaucoma medications.
