Abstract Details
Purpose:
To assess and compare the pre- and postoperative vision-related outcome of cataract patients captured by the Catquest-9SF
Setting:
Since seven years, the nordBLICK® Eye Hospital Bellevue conducts an extended patient survey in order to capture the current state of patient satisfaction and its development over time. Beside general aspects of hospitalization, we included the Catquest-9SF in order to capture the patient-reported outcome of cataract surgery.
Methods:
Between December 2015 and January 2016, 154 cataract patients completed the Catquest-9SF preoperatively (3 days to one day) and postoperatively (10 to 14 days). The validity was assessed with the help of Rasch analyses using the WINSTEP software (version 3.92.1). Main outcome of the Catquest-9SF were measured in logits. Further statistical analyses will be conducted using SPSS 18.
Results:
Pairwise completed questionnaires were received from 154 cataract patients. Rasch analysis showed good results with regard to patient separation and patient separation reliability. Overall analysis showed high ability to discriminate between pre- and postoperative survey (person separation of 2.56 and person separation ability of 0.87). Changes of mean person logit scores showed that visual disability decreased from pre- to postoperative assessment.
Conclusions:
Results of the Rasch analysis show consistent results with regard to separation and reliability. Visual disability decreased from pre- to postoperative assessment. Since further analyses are in progress, final results will be presented during the ESCRS meeting.
