Abstract Details
Purpose:
To compare the accuracy of iol power calculation methods in patients that underwent Refractive Laser Surgery in the past and have been implanted with a ZXR00 (Tecnis Symofny IOL by JnJ Vision)
Setting:
Hospital Universitario QuirĂ³n Madrid
Methods:
We divided patients in two groups and used the ASCRS IOL power calculator. Ocular biometry was measured using IOL master 700 and k readings with Pentacam. Group 1: without previous refractive surgery data. Formulae: Shammas, Haigis L, Potvin-Hill and Barrett true k no history Group 2: with previous refractive surgery data. Formulae: Adjusted effrp, Masket, Shammas, modified Masket and Barrett true k. By using the actual refraction after cataract surgery as target refraction, predicted IOL power for each method was calculated. The IOL prediction error was obtained by subtracting the predicted IOL power from the power of the IOL implanted.
Results:
90 eyes were available for analysis. For the group 1 with the Shammas, True-K No History, Haigis-L, Potvin-Hill and Average of these 4 formulas, the median refractive PEs were 0.10 D, 0.62 D, 0.05 D, 1,.22 D and 0.47 D, respectively. For the group 2 with the Shammas, Adjusted effrp, Masket, modified Masket, Barrett true k, Haigis L and average of these 5 formulas, the median PEs were -0.17 D, -0.51 D, 0.04 D, 0.32 D, -0.12 D and 0.20 D respectively.
Conclusions:
Using optimized lens constants for the calculation with our dataset, the Shammas formula had the most favorable prediction outcomes in patients without previous refractive surgery data. For patients with previous refractive surgery data, the modified Masket formula had the better prediction outcomes.
