Abstract Details
Purpose:
To compare safety and efficacy of ReLEx SMILE - standart method and ReLEx SMILE modified method for myopia and myopic astigmatism correction.
Setting:
MNTK " Microsurgery of eye" Saint Petersburg branch
Methods:
This prospective study included 3157 eyes of 1582patients with myopia and myopic astigmatism. Treated eyes were divided into two groups: 1696 eyes were treated with ReLEx SMILE by standard laser setting and the 1461 eyes was treated at ReLEx SMILE with change laser energy setting . The following parameters were evaluated preoperatively,to next operating day and 1 month post operative: uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) coefficient efficacy (CE),gain and loss lines 1 month after operation.
Results:
At 1 post operation day mean CE was 0,98 of the modified group and 0,92 of the standard SMILE group (P < 0.05). At 1 month after operation the mean CE was 1.04 and 0,98 (P < 0.05).
Conclusions:
Modified method ReLEx SMILE was superior in the recovery rate of the visual acuty, both 1day post operation and 1 month post operation. The main difference between two techniques are different energy parameters and more quick both cornea healing recovery and visual outcomes likely derived from low energy. The modified metod technology available with expert mode on Visumax laser. These changes in energy parameters to affect the results of perfomance visual outcomes.
