Abstract Details
Purpose:
The study aimed to carry out congenital cataract surgery in a simplified way that can be conducted feasibly than the conventional method.
Setting:
The total n=88 child patients with different age groups were included in the current retrospective.
Rizgary Teaching Hospital, Iraq/Erbil
Adana hospital, Turkey,Adana
Methods:
UGA two site ports made with twenty G MVR followed by the insertion of the cutter and the irrigation fluid in the ports. Then the anterior capsule is cut off with the cutter without peripheral extension as happens frequently in the congenital glaucoma. In the same session, lensectomy carried out without hydrodisection, followed by incision and IOL insertion. When the IOL is inside the bag, cutter/irrigation reinserted, and a satisfying outcome for posterior capsulotomy and the anterior vitrectomy was recorded under the implanted IOL followed by corneal hydration at the incision sites. A definite tension of anterior chamber was reformed.
Results:
The outcome of the retrospective study has shown that neither glaucoma nor IOL dislocations could be happened over at least one year of check up of every patient (157 eyes).
Conclusions:
This procedure is a new approach to treat congenital cataract which can be completed successfully with least surgical potentials.
