Abstract Details
Purpose:
to compare endothelial cell loss after cataract surgery with FLACS versus Phaco-chop
Setting:
Augenärzte Hannover-Nord
Methods:
we formed two groups with 25 patients for our trial and performed cataract surgery. In group 1 with FLACS method (LenSx), in group 2 with normal Phaco-Chop method. All surgeries were performed by same surgeon, all patients had the same viscoelastic substance.
Results:
we observed moderate endothelium cell loss in both groups. In FLACS group 3,55%; no patient lost more than 200 cells/mm²; In Phaco-Chop group 5,87%, 3 patients lost more than 1000 cells/mm².
Conclusions:
Both methods showed only moderate endothelium cell loss. We nevertheless observed significant advantages in FLACS group
