Abstract Details
Purpose:
Kamra corneal Inlay, has proved to be a good method to treat brespiobia,
Unfortunately it is getting less popular than it was expected.
Patient’s satisfactory level is not encouraging, due to distorting visual symptoms such as glare, shadowing and light scattering.
We believe that proper Kamra corneal Inlay centration over the visual axis is the main factor to gain excellent visual outcome without visual distorting symptoms
Setting:
Department of ophthalmology
Rabiah Medical Center
Kuwait
Methods:
Prospective interventional study included 60 eyes for brespiobic correction.
All non-dominant eyes, were prepared by Lasik treatment to be mild myopic -0.75 D, at least a week before
A corneal pocket was made 250-300 microns deep by femto laser “ZIEMER FEMTO LDV CRYSTAL LINE ”
A PTK circle of 3.8 mm in diameter and 20 microns in depth was performed by excimer laser “NIDEK QUEST EC 5000", centered on the visual axis.
This will make a clear rounded corneal mark
Kamra corneal Inlay was then implanted centered on the visual axis guided by the circular corneal mark
Results:
The 60 eyes treated by this method had no visual complaints such as glare, shadowing and light scattering,
No single case the Kamra corneal Inlay was explanted
Vision for far, 100% of patients had 20/30 or better, 90% had 20/20
Vision for near,100% of patients had J3 or better, 87% had J1
Topographic and refractive changes were not frequently seen due to the depth of the pocket and frequent generous lubrication
Conclusions:
Kamra corneal Inlay, is an excellent method to treat brespiobia,
Unfortunately patients satisfactory level is not as expected, due to distorting visual symptoms such as glare, shadowing and light scattering, that lead to inlay explantation .
A PTK circle of 3.8 mm in diameter and 20 microns in depth will make a clear rounded well centered corneal mark on the visual axis that is not influenced by
1- The visual parallax of the surgeon
2-The pupil size and position
3- Angle kuppa
Patient’s satisfaction level is much better, no more visual distorting complaints.
