Abstract Details
Purpose:
YAG Laser Floater Removal procedure (vitreolysis) is becoming a widely performed and recognized procedure in the world. After the publication of Shah et al from 2017 there is clinical confirmation of a proven safety profile in the literature.
Setting:
Department of Ophthalmology, Poznan University of Medical Sciences, Poland
St. Adalbert Hospital, Poznan, Poland
Methods:
As the influence on the vitreous has been widely discussed, we analyzed the impact of the YAG laser disruption within the tissue based on the live acoustic wave diagnostics. We used the B-scan probe with the highest per second acquisition rate currently available (25 frame per second 10 MHz B-scan probe, Ellex EyeOne). Based on the plasma cone extension profile for the YAG laser, we predicted that the actual impact should not exceed 200 microns.
Results:
We are presenting live ultrasound videos showing the actual vitreolysis procedure with Ellex Tango Reflex laser to prove that the real laser interference is similar to our prediction, based on the general YAG laser specification.
Conclusions:
In the presentation, we show the influence of the energy of YAG laser vitreolysis procedure on the vitreous body and the volume in which its direct influence is visible.
