Purpose:
The purpose of this clinical study is to compare the clinical outcomes of two trifocal non-toric IOLs, the POD F and POD F GF (both PhysIOL, Liège, Belgium) having the same optical parameters but differing in the IOL material (hydrophilic vs. hydrophobic).

Methods:
Subjects with cataractous eyes and regular corneal astigmatism <0.75D underwent bilateral refractive lens exchange with trifocal intraocular lenses, with one eye implanted with the hydrophilic POD F and the contralateral eye with the hydrophobic POD F GF IOL (both PhysIOL, Liège, Belgium). Preoperative manifest refraction, photopic and mesopic visual acuity (far, intermediate, near), and contrast sensitivity were compared with follow-up at 1, 3, and 6 months. Safety was monitored through adverse event reporting.
Results:
Fifty eyes of 25 patients (15 F) with mean age 58.8 ± 7.8 years were included. Both IOLs achieved refractive outcomes close to emmetropia across all follow-up visits (p<0.05). Significant improvements were observed in far, intermediate, and near vision at 6-month follow-up for both lenses. No significant differences were noted in defocus curves or contrast sensitivity. No adverse events were recorded.
Conclusions:
Implantation of the POD F and POD F GF intraocular lenses allows for a safe and efficient restoration of near, intermediate, and far visual acuity on patients undergoing IOL implantation.
