Abstract Details

Purpose:

To test repeatability and reproducibility of spectral domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) Revo Nx (new device) and to compare keratometry values obtained by a Scheimpflug tomography (Galilei G6)  and a swept source OCT (Casia 2).

Setting:

Ophthalmology Department Railway Hospital Katowice Panewnicka 65. 40765- Katowice, Poland II School of Medicine with the Division of Dentistry in Zabrze Medical University of Silesia, Katowice

Methods:

Methods: Healthy subjects who had central corneal thickness (CCT), anterior and posterior K1/K2  keratometry measured with the new device and the reference keratometers were included in the study. Two operators made 10 measurements on the new device to check repeatability.  Bland-Altman plots were used to assess the agreement between the devices for each analyzed variable.

Results:

Results: 94 eyes (94 patients) were studied.  All devices produced significantly different mean CCT, with the highest for Galilei 569.13±37.58  followed by the Casia 545.00 ±36.15 and Revo 537.39±35.92 µm.  The mean average anterior keratometry was 43.68±1.35 for Casia 2 42.91±1.50 for Revo Nx and 43.65±1.34 and it was insignificant for Casia 2 and Galilei G6 p=0.22. The mean average posterior keratometry for Revo Nx was -5.89 ± 0.22  while for Casia 2 it was -6.14±0.22 and for Galilei G6 -6.33±0.34 D.

Conclusions:

The RevoNX offered high repeatability of 0.975 for posterior surface to 0.994 for anterior and reproducibility for the anterior and posterior cornea and was independent of a user.
