Abstract Details

Purpose:

To report a case where postoperative flap damage was resolved by removing the flap.

Setting:

Balestrazzi Eye Clinic Rome.

Methods:

In March 2018, a 38-year-old woman undergoing femtolasik to correct myopia of 6.50 in the right eye and 6.25 in the left  . In June 2018 the patient presented to us complaining about worsening of the visual acuity in the left eye reporting she had undergone, in May 2018, to lifting and washing the flap . UCVA was 20/500 in the left eye.and the flap presented opacity . UCVA was 3/10 with BCL . After 7 days the patient reported eyelid oedema in the left eye, the flap was retracted . We decided to remove the flap and to apply a bandage contact lens.

Results:

In the first day postop the UCVA was already 20/25, after 7 days BCVA was 20/20 with -0.25 = -0.25 ax 20 After 1 month UCVA was 20/20 and a slight subepithelial haze was present. After 3 and 6 months UCVA was 20/20 and the haze progressively decreased.

Conclusions:

In the event of dislocation and damage to the flap, it is possible to completely remove the flap and to obtain a good visual acuity. However a subepithelial corneal opacity is possible.
