Abstract Details

Purpose:

To study the effect of implanting CAIRS in keratoconic corneas that have previously been cross-linked.

Setting:

Dr. Agarwal's Refractive and Cornea Foundation, Dr. Agarwal's Eye Hospital, Chennai, India.

Methods:

Allogenic ring segments were prepared from donor corneal stroma using a special double bladed trephine. These were then implanted into mid-stromal depth, mid-peripheral 360 degree femtosecond laser dissected channels.

Results:

Improvement was seen in UCVA and topographic parameters. All patients were satisfied with outcomes.

Conclusions:

CAIRS implantation gives effective results in cross-linked corneas and can be implanted in patients who have undergone previous cross-linking in order to improve visual quality and quantity further.
