Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate the visual outcome and rotational stability of a toric panfocal intraocular lens (IOL) three months after femtosecond-assisted cataract surgery and refractive lens exchange.
Setting:
Prospective application observation
Methods:
32 eyes of 16 patients were bilaterally implanted with a toric panfocal IOL (Panoptix, Alcon, USA) during cataract surgery or refractive lens exchange to reach spectacle independence postoperatively. Main outcome measures were uncorrected and best spectacle corrected distant, intermediate, and near visual acuity (UDVA, UIVA, UNVA, CDVA, DCIVA, DCNVA; logMAR
Results:
At 3 months postoperative the patients had a UDVA of 0.01±0.09logMAR which was significant better than the preoperative CDVA 0.13±0.14logMAR (p<0.001). UIVA and UNVA were 0.06±0.13 and 0.06±0.08logMAR at the 3 months followup. The defocus curve shows excellent far, intermediate and near visual acuity. The IOL was stable regarding rotational stability with a mean deviation of intended axis 2.63°±2.42. The amount of visual phenomenons was equal or less to most trifocal IOLs.
Conclusions:
The used toric panfocal IOL offers excellent vision in all distances without the need of glasses for near, intermediate or distant vision. There was no significant deviation of the IOL axis after 3 months.
