Abstract Details

Purpose:

The objective of this study is to describe the timings of each phase of the cataract procedure with implantation of toric IOLs with VERION device (guided group), and without VERION device (manual group).

Setting:

All surgeries were performed at Quironsalud Ophthalmological Institute in A Coruña, Spain. All surgeries were performed by the same surgeon (EB) at QuironSalud A Coruña (Spain).

Methods:

Thirty patients were assigned to each of the two study groups (manual and Verion).Dual arm comparative study of consecutive patients. In the manual group, phases were “horizontal marking”, “axis marking” and “phaco procedure”. In this group, all phases must be carried out in the operating room (OR). In the guided group phases were “guiding system acquisition” and “guiding system alignment + phaco procedure”. In this group only “guiding system alignment + phaco procedure” must be carried out in the OR whereas the “guiding system acquisition” can be performed in a previous visit outside the OR.

Results:

The study is recruiting patients, and definitive result will be presented at the congress.

Conclusions:

Preliminary results indicate that the guided system may save intraoperative time compared with the manual method. Final results will be uploaded by 20th April, 2019.
