Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate the visual, refractive, and patient satisfaction outcomes after cataract surgery with implantation of a new EDOF trifocal intraocular lens (IOL).
Setting:
Breyer, Kaymak & Klabe Eyesurgery in Duesseldorf, Germany, which is a part of the International Vision Correction Research Center Network (IVCRC.net).
Methods:
10 patients (20 eyes) with non-significant corneal astigmatism were enrolled to undergo cataract surgery with implantation of the hydrophobic glistening free EDOF trifocal, FineVisionTriumf (POD L GF) IOL (PhysIOL SA, Liège, Belgium). Monocular uncorrected (UDVA) and corrected (CDVA) distance visual acuity, distance corrected intermediate visual acuity (DCIVA) at 100cm, at 60cm and distance corrected near visual acuity (DCNVA) at 40cm, refraction, and patient satisfaction (NEI VFQ-20 questionnaire) were evaluated postoperatively as well as defocus curve and Halo and Glare assessment and MIOL-Capacity was calculated.
Results:
Postoperatively (mean follow up: 3 months), mean logMAR monocular UDVA, UIVA, UNVA were -0,04±0.11, 0.07±0.09 and 0.10±0.12, respectively.. The mean postoperative spherical equivalent was -0.08±0.62 D with 93% of the eyes within ±1,0D. Halo and Glare was 57±11%.
Conclusions:
In this first evaluation the EDOF trifocal, FineVisionTriumf (POD L GF) IOL provides effective restoration of visual function at distances from near to far after cataract surgery on eyes combined with a quality of vision and spectacle freedom. Associated with the visual outcomes are a good refractive predictability. Photopic phenomena, MIOL Capacity and defocus curve were comparable to other trifocal IOL.
