Abstract Details
Purpose:
To analyze the visual quality and patient’s satisfaction in patients implanted with a trifocal intraocular lens (IOL).
Setting:
Clínica Rementería, Madrid, Spain
Methods:
The study included patients having bilateral implantation of the AcrySof® IQ PanOptixTM IOL. Three months after surgery patients underwent: monocular and binocular uncorrected and corrected distance, intermediate and near visual acuity (VA), binocular defocus curves and binocular photopic contrast sensitivity (CSF). Patient’s satisfaction was evaluated with the Catquest9-SF questionnaire.
Results:
This study included 166 eyes of 83 patients. Patients showed monocular uncorrected far, intermediate and near VA of: 0.04 ± 0.06 logMAR, 0.21 ± 0.10logMAR and 0.05 ± 0.08 logMAR, respectively. The binocular defocus curve showed VA values over 0.1 logMAR in all focal points between -2.5D y +0.50D. CSF values were within normal ranges and the scores reported in the questionnaire showed high rates of patient’s satisfaction.
Conclusions:
The results with the IOL under study conclude that visual quality and subjective patient’s satisfaction are excellent in patients that look for spectacle independence at all distances after the cataract surgery.
