Abstract Details

Purpose:

To determine the efficacy and safety of a bilateral Oculentis Mplus lens implantation where the add is lower in the dominant eye

Setting:

Sydney, Australia

Methods:

A prospective single arm non randomized study  of 10 patients (20 eyes) was conducted involving implantation of the MplusX 30 with a +3.00 near addition in the non dominant eye and Mplus 15 with a +1.50 near addition. Uncorrected and corrected distance, intermediate and near visual acuity were also measured as well as a patient satisfaction survey was completed.

Results:

At the 1 months post operative visit, 97% of patients had a satisfaction rating of 8/10 or more. Average uncorrected distance vision was -0.02±0.07 (6/6+1) in the dominant eye with the Mplus 15 and 0.05±0.13 (6/7.5+2) in non dominant eye with the Mplus X 30. Uncorrected Intermediate vision in the dominant eye was 0.56 and the non dominant eye was 0.49. Uncorrected near vision was for both eyes was 0.42.

Conclusions:

The Oculentis Mplus X implanted with the Mplus 15 bifocal IOL  in the dominant eye  bifocal intraocular lens is a safe & effective approach for correcting distance, intermediate and reading vision.
