Abstract Details

Purpose:

To present the first results with the new monofocal intraocular lens (IOL)  implanted to patients during cataract surgery.

Setting:

Eye Hospital Svjetlost, Zagreb, Croatia

Methods:

Thirty-two Tecnis Eyhence IOLs were implanted to twenty patients who had cataract surgery. Eight of them had Tecnis 1-Piece IOL in the other eye. Best corrected distant visual acuity (BDVA), uncorrected distant (UDVA), intermediate at 66 cm (UIVA) and near (UNVA) visual acuities and best reading distances at near were measured one month after surgery.

Results:

Mean UDVA was 0.01±0.09 logMAR and mean UIVA was 0.22±0.09. Thirty of thirty-two patients achieved UNVA J4 or better. Patients who had Tecnis 1-Piece IOL implanted in another eye reported better near vision with Tecnis Eyhence IOL.

Conclusions:

Patients who underwent cataract surgery with implantation of Tecnis Eyhence IOL have excellent uncorrected visual acuity at far and very good intermediate vision. Uncorrected visual acuity at near was better compared to Tecnis 1-Piece IOL but sill, they have to wear reading glsses.
