Abstract Details
Purpose:
To analyse the results of IPCL as a safe & effective strategy for management of myopia for patients who are not good candidates for Corneal Ablative procedures
Setting:
M M Joshi Eye Hospital
Methods:
57 myopic eyes of patients aged 18-44 years (Mean 24.4) underwent IPCL implantation at a tertiary hospital in south India from July-November 2016. Primary outcome was pre-operative & post-operative vision correlation and lens vault after 6 months. Vault >300 µ was good & <300 µ was low. Secondary outcome were complicati
Results:
Preoperatively, spherical equivalent was -4 to -25.5 D; 72% & 28% eyes had BCVA >6/18 & <6/18 respectively. Post-operatively, 84% & 16% had BCVA >6/18 & <6/18 respectively. Post & pre-operative BCVA co-related in all eyes. Average lens vault was 623 µ, with all >300 µ at 6 months. 1 eye had small vault of 87 µ at 1 month. Here, a larger IPCL was exchanged with it. 1 eye had raised intraocular pressure, which was managed medically. 2 eyes had minimal cataractous changes & were observed.
Conclusions:
IPCL is a safe & effective strategy for management of myopia for patients who are not good candidates for Corneal Ablative procedures
