Abstract Details

Purpose:

To analyze the positions of central hole of Visian ICL V4c and the influencing factors.

Setting:

Aier School of Ophthalmology, Central South University, Shenyang Aier Eye Hospital

Methods:

This study included 74 eyes of 37patients after implantation of the Visian ICL V4c(ICL/TICL).UCVA, intraocular pressure (IOP), MRSE were assessed preoperatively, 1d, 1week, 1 and 3 months after surgery. The vault and the decentering distance (distance from the hole center to the vertical line passing through the corneal apex) were measured by Pentacam . We classified the eyes into three groups based on the decentering distance: Group A (no decentering), within 180μm; Group B1, within 180μm to 360μm; Group B2: 360μm or more. Group B1 and Group B2 were defined as decentering groups.

Results:

Central holes decentered in most of the 74 eyes 1d after surgery,28 eyes (37.84%),34 eyes(45.95%),12 eyes (16.22%)were classified into group A, B1,B2,respectively.The percentage of the decentered eyes was 62.16%,59.45%,63.51%,55.4% at 1d, 1week, 1 and 3 months, respectively, with no significant difference (χ2=1.917,p=0.59).Decentration occurred in 41 eyes(55.4%) among which 16 eyes were superior temporal,15 eyes  inferior temporal,9 eyes  temporal and 1 eye superior nasal at 3 months postoperatively. The decentering distance was correlated with the preoperative diameter of pupil and angle kappa at each follow up(P<0.05), IOP 1 week postoperatively (P<0.05) and refractive cylinder 1week, 1, 3 months postoperatively

Conclusions:

1.Central hole decentered in some of the patients after implantation of Visian ICL V4c. The positions of the central hole changed during the follow up with no significant difference of the decentering percentage. 2.The central hole decentering was associated with preoperative angle kappa, diameter of pupil and refractive cylinder.
