Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate the safety, efficacy, predictability and stability of implantation of EVO ICL (ICL with central flow) for the correction of refractive regression after corneal refractive surgery.
Setting:
Taiyuan Aier Eye Hospital, Taiyuan, China
Methods:
The retrospective self-controlled case series comprised 14 eyes of 7 patients with consecutive 12-month follow up selected from 22 eyes which underwent implantation of EVO ICL for the correction of refractive regression after cornea refractive surgery. UDVA, CDVA, refraction, intraocular pressure, ECD and vault were assessed at 1, 3 and 12 months postoperatively.
Results:
Postoperative UDVA of all the eyes achieved or exceeded the preoperative CDVA.
The safety index was 1.36± 0.27 and the effective index was 1.23±0.28.
85.71% (12/14) and 100% of the eyes were within ±0.50 D and ±1.00 D of intended correction.
The mean IOP didn’t change significantly from before to the last vist (P>0.05). The mean ECD pre and 12 months postoperatively was 2426.4± 163.3/mm2 and 2403.5±177.4/mm2. There’s no significant change in ECD. (P>0.05)
The change of the vault was not significant during the whole follow up(P> 0.05).
Conclusions:
Implantation of EVO ICL was effective, predictable, safe and stable for the correction of patients with refractive regression after cornea refractive surgery throughout the 1-year observation period and significantly improved the patients’ life quality.
