Abstract Details
Purpose: 
To evaluate treatment of pyogenic granulomas after strabismus surgery. 
Setting: 
 A 37 year old female patient who underwent a strabismus surgery at the age of three  formed a conjunctival pyogenic granuloma at the site of sutures. 
Methods: 
 Surgical excision after corticosteroid treatment and resolution of granuloma.Postoperative treatment with topical antibiotic. 
Results: 
 The patient was not respond in the treatment of topical corticosteroids. Surgical excision was successful. Postoperative treatment with topical antibiotic was needed to prevent infection. 
Conclusions: 
 Conjunctival pyogenic granulomas are a potential complication after a strabismus surgery. Treatment with topical steroids is  the initial treatment for patients with pyogenic granulomas. Surgical excision is effective in patients who do not improve with topical medication.
