Abstract Details

Purpose:

To analyze the outcome of Lasek top up over multifocal IOL for 171 eyes in the years between 2012-2017

Setting:

Optimax Clinics UK

Methods:

Retrospective study on 171 eyes who had Lasek top up over multifocal implant , vision and refraction was reported before laser top up , 3 months after and 9 months after the laser top up All laser treatment were on Shwind Amaris AF platform Patients age were between 45 and 75  with avarage age of 53.6 years , laser top up were performed between 6 months and 2 years  with avarage 17.3 months after multifocal IOL , 95 eyes had previous yag laser ,

Results:

The pre-laser avarage unaided vision was at 0,49,, with aided vision at 0.93 The pre -laser prescriptions avarage was at +0.08/-0.83X 89 , with Spherical equivelant avarage of -0.34 D , The 3 months post Lasek avarage unaided vision was at 0.87 with aided vision at 0,95 The 3 months post Lasek prescription avarage was at +0.17-0.29X 102 , with Spherical  equivalent avarage at 0.026D The 9 months post Lasek prescription avarage was +0.24/-0.27X95 with Spherical equivalent avarage at 0.01 The avarage 9 months post Lasek unaided vision was at 0.87 with avarage aided vision at 0.97

Conclusions:

The Lasek top up over multifocal implant is needed for small prescription which were mainly small against the rule astigmatism . The unaided avarage vision improved from 0.49 pre laser to 0.97 at 9 months after laser The avarage prescriptions improved from +0.08/-0.83X89 before laser to +0.17/-0.29X102 at 9 months after laser treatment . The Spherical equivalent has improved from -0.34 D before treatment to only 0.01 at 9 months after laser. Patients reported avarage improvement  of quality of vision up to 85.5% , compering thier vision at 9 months after laser pre laser vision .
