Abstract Details

Purpose:

To discribe a rare condition where DLK happened after Lasek retreatment over Old LASIK treatment

Setting:

Optimax clinics UK

Methods:

We report 5 cases of patients I had DLK after Lasek in the years 2012-2018 Patient age were between 28 and 45 years , 4 men and one woman all had LASIK treatment between 9-18 months before they had Lasek retreatment , All were treated with Shwind laser , All patient were myops on the initial lasik treatments and on Lasek retreatment , All had retreatment on Lasek using MMC for 20 seconds .

Results:

There were 203 retreatment between the years  2012-2018 , of those only 5 eyes in 5 patients developed DLK , white blood cells were observed in the old flap section level, the DLK in all these cases reported on day 4 to day 8 from the Lasek retreatment  , DLK were treated with intensive steroid drops for 2-3 weeks , All the DLK were minimal , all DLK healed  within 2-3 weeks .

Conclusions:

DLK can occur after Lasek in cases of previous initial LASIK treatment . the DLK is usually minimal and response quickly to intensive steroid drops . The flap section can still allow WBC invasion even 18 months after initial LASIK treatment .
