Five years' experience with ReLEx SMILE in DuoVize Eye Clinic, Prague

Abstract Details

Purpose:

To evaluate visual results in a big group of patients with ReLEx SMILE in 5 years period

Setting:

DuoVize Eye Clinic Prague, Czech Republic

Methods:

Study is retrospective. Study is performed in one clinic, in two machines VisuMax Carl Zeiss by two surgeons. Study concern patients, whom we performed ReLEx SMILE for low, moderate and high myopia with myopic astigmatism. We measured UCVA 1 day after surgery and 1 month after surgery. We evidenced patients, who needed enhancement.

Results:

We performed ReLEx  SMILE in 1429 eyes. Surgeries was performed from April 2014 till February 2019. Follow up is from 1 month to 5 years. Average UCVA in day 1 was 0,9-1,0, average UCVA in month 1 was 1,2 and better. Enhancement was necessary in 0,5 % of eye after average time 23,5 month from surgery.

Conclusions:

UCVA after SMILE is very good in day 1 and perfect in month 1. It is improving with surgeon´s experience with respect of the lowest possible energies of laser settings. Surgeon´s experience says also, that the VisuMax Carl Zeiss machine bought in 2018 brings much easier separations in comparing the same machine bought in 2010.
