Abstract Details

Purpose:

The purpose of this work was to study the speed of recovery of visual functions after the Femto LASIK with ten-day course of pleoptic and diploptic exercises  and a comparative assessment of visual indicators after Femto LASIK with and without pleoptic and diploptic exercises.

Setting:

Studies were conducted in Medical Center ,,Shengavit,, and Zilfyan EyeCare center.

Methods:

In the group A Femto LASIK (Femto LDV)  treatment was performed on 52 eyes; 22 with myopia up to -10.0 D, 8 with hyperopia and 20 with astigmatism. All patients have started pleoptic and diploptic exercises on 5th day after operation. Pleoptic and diploptic  treatment lasted 10 days. Visual acuity of all patients has been measured before and after pleoptic and diploptic treatment. In the group B Femto LASIK (Femto LDV)  treatment was performed on 50 eyes. In this group we have not treated patients with pleoptic and diploptic exercises.

Results:

There was good results after Femto LASIK in the group A. The visual acuity after pleoptic and diploptic treatment was increased 30-40 % then before treatment.   In the group B the visual acuity in half  cases was the same that in the next day of operation and  in the other half cases  was increased only 10-20 % in the 10th day after operation.

Conclusions:

The pleoptic and diploptic exercises are the good methods  for the fast  recovery of visual functions after Femto Lasik, especially among the patients with hyperopia and astigmatism.
