Abstract Details
Purpose:
The aim of the present research is an evaluation of refractive, morphological and topographical changes in anterior and posterior corneal curvature, in patients after limbal autograft transplantation due to recurrent pterygium
Setting:
Department of Ophthalmology with Pediatric Unit, St. Barbara Hospital, Trauma Center, Sosnowiec, Poland
Methods:
All patients underwent the operation of pterygium removal with the simultaneous corneal limbal transplantation. An assessment of  corneal curvatures changes and refractive measurements were performed preoperative and 14 days after keratoplasty procedure. In examinations rotating Scheimpflung camera (Pentacam), Swept Source OCT and autorefractor were used
Results:
The comparative analysis of  corneal parameters and refraction assessment indicate relevant reduction of corneal postoperative astigmatism. This is directly linked to visible improvement of symmetry and regularity of corneal curvatures, which are displayed on  topographical maps
Conclusions:
The surgical technique of keratoplasty allows to effective removal of corneal pterygium, reducing significantly the risk of relapse at the same time. This procedure thus allows to obtain regular and stable, either anterior or posterior curvature of cornea
