Descemetorhexis without endothelium keratoplasty (DWEK) in a patient with post-radial keratotomy (RK)

Abstract Details

Purpose:

Describe this  technique DWEK in a patient with cataract and RK incision. The patient presented cornea guttate and cataract in both eyes. We made the phacoemulsification and DWEK in the both eyes and the patient presented better visual acuity after 3 month of surgery.

Setting:

Sao Paulo, Brazil

Methods:

Phacoemulsification with IOL implant and DWEK technique in the both eyes in a cornea guttate and after RK incisions

Results:

The patient presented improvement of visual acuity in the first month post op with following until sixth month with good endothelium count in the confocal microscopy

Conclusions:

This new technique showed improvement of the endothelium count in the both eyes, without need the endothelium transplant.
