Abstract Details

Purpose:

To report a new entity of “Split Descemet Membrane (DM)” with anterior segment OCT (AS-OCT) in two cases of presumed classic Descemet Membrane Detachment (DMD).

Setting:

Case report and literature review.

Methods:

Case report and literature review.

Results:

A fifteen-year-old female with osteogenesis imperfecta type 3 patient presented with spontaneous perforation in the right eye and incidental diagnosis of local peripheral DMD in her left eye and a 75-year-old man with history of Fuchs corneal dystrophy presented with decreased vision in his left eye which was first diagnosed as a classical DMD were evaluated with AS-OCT. Both cases were noted to have “Split DM” based on high-resolution images AS-OCT imaging.

Conclusions:

We have identified “Split DM” in two cases using high resolution AS-OCT. Although AS-OCT provides a great deal of information about corneal pathologies, further histopathological examinations are needed to confirm the diagnosis in such cases.
